receptionist was not gentle and sounds rude. The hotel concierge was not helpful and was just rushing do the bookings and not telling anthing to us. That sounds unprofessional.

we love this area in Bangkok so this suited our needs. We paid the extra for the but in essence its a small conference room they don't use, not really worth it.
Breakfast is a buffet and it's ok. We didn't eat any evening meals as plenty of choices outside.
The rooms were good, big and spacious, but on reflection I think we would have preferred a smaller hotel.
It was clean and staff all friendly, just not for us. But if you need a base in the city for a few days, it's ideally located and you can't go wrong.

This was my second stay at the President Palace. This time, we opted to stay on the club room floor. Check in was on the club floor and was smooth but the club floor benefits weren't explained to us as we have experienced in other hotels, we had to ask what exactly we were entitled to. The room was ok, showing signs of wear and tear including where there had been a large water leak. It was an average room but on the club floor. I did expect better.
The staff are all friendly, especially the girls in the club lounge who were lovely and could have a quick chat to. We had breakfast in the restaurant downstairs and in the club lounge, both pretty good. The gym is very good and the pool area great. Happy hour by the pool a good incentive to get down there!
Two things that irritated me this stay - firstly was the lifts. You need to insert your room key into the reader to enable you to reach your floor. I had trouble with one of the readers consistently, staff acknowledged it was faulty but nothing seemed to be done to remedy. Secondly, there is not a great variety of english speaking tv channels so was hoping to relax with the in house movies but neither of these channels worked. I phoned reception to be told just that. It stayed that way for my entire stay of 8 nights. Nobody could tell me why. Not good enough. The hotel is on soi 11, a pretty lively street. It is a problem getting a cab from that street unless you pay the ridiculous prices offered by the taxi mafia lurking around. Best walk down to Sukhumvit Road and flag one down. Overall, a pretty good stay but for the price, I expected better and as such would seek alternative accommodation if returning to this area..

You have to wonder why anyone would want more. Lovely staff, great service, good comfortable hotel rooms in an amazing location for nightlife, restaurants and shopping. The pool even has all day sun (many hotels don't due to high rise development). Starbucks in reception and most 5* hotels that are 15% better charge 150% more. Less is more and this is in my opinion the best value in the right location in Bangkok. I stay here about 5 times a year and have tried a lot of hotels in different price brackets.
